The brief: a premium fitness flagship that feels like the warehouse it used to be — only sharper.
A bold exploration of adaptive reuse — preserving raw concrete beams and steel trusses while injecting modern lighting, acoustic treatment, and a sleek equipment layout.
Prime Gym sits in the heart of Surabaya, inside what was — for almost a decade — an abandoned industrial warehouse. The design philosophy was to preserve the "old soul" of the structure while injecting "new energy" into every functional surface.
The challenge: balancing the raw industrial aesthetic with the comfort required for a premium gym. We solved this by introducing warm timber elements, strategic greenery, and recessed acoustic ceiling pockets — softening hard edges without losing the building's mass.
The result is a space that feels both powerful and welcoming — a flagship that looks like it was always supposed to be a gym.
"Old soul, new energy. A balance between strength and flexibility."
— Design statementTwo opposing reads of the same project — the hard mass and the warm interior answer to each other.
